Assam down town University was established on 29th April 2010 by the down town Charity Trust. It is the second private university in the north-east. The necessity of a private university has been felt since long time, as students have to go to other parts of India. In 2011, the following disciplines, namely Engineering with Five Branches, Pharmacy, Nursing, Allied Health, Hotel Management and many more courses are to be started. All these disciplines are equipped with most modern methodologies for teaching. There are 100 plus faculties running 354 courses and 2000 plus students are already undertaking their courses.
